Choo Choo glory

Luke enjoying his 1/4 cup of an icee and a choc. chip cookie in the mall
Last night we enjoyed a evening to Boise. Since our kids still have mastered the sit in the car quietly routine- a "special" trip is often avoided. We decided that they will never get good at it unless we practice it. Same with going out to eat at restaurants. (Although that will still be few and far between). But we decided that for longer trips (30 min +) we'll tell them that the trip is longer and we get to watch a movie if we are "nice boys". So the video saved our life last night (portable DVD player) and we actually had a conversation. We ate a Papa Murphy's pizza before we left and then headed out to Boise (main goal to find Jer some new pants at the Big and Tall store) We got there at 6:55 to find out they closed at 7. He couldn't find anything there anyway. But the best part of my day was picking up the boys and getting a clean report. Both good!!! Praise God. The bad news of Ian's behavior was starting to suck the life out of me. But he ran to the door to tell me he had been a nice boy. We've been trying to use incentives to motivate him because he seems to care less about any kind of discipline and he obviously isn't intrinsically motivated yet. For about a week we have been talking about a new train he might be able to get if he was a nice boy this week. You should have seen the look in his face when Luke got one on Tuesday and Ian didn't. There was more passion in that face than in during any time of consequence. So today he eagerly told me, "Mom, today I get Thomas!!!" So we went to Target and he purchased a Thomas train to go with his battery drained collection. He is sleeping with him right now or I'd post a picture of the powerful engine that prompted my son to be good.

You are Jer are doing a great job of parenting! I'm sure Ian learned a big lesson from what you've shared here. Precious boy!

Uh, yeah. I can't seem to leave a comment that isn't filled with type-o's. Sorry.

Don't get discouraged about Ian. He's only 3, he'll get it figured out. :)
